Les Paul Guitar Switch and Strings Black and White Photography

A Pale Toggle Beside Bright Strings and Polished Hardware

I framed this Les Paul guitar around the toggle switch and strings, the small details that first drew me into the instrument. In black and white, the pale switch tip stands out against the darker wood, while the pickup and frets add a second set of bright shapes. The whole guitar is outside the frame, but there is enough here to give it a clear identity.

The rounded edge of the body brings a broad curve into a picture full of straight lines. It sweeps past the switch, then leads toward the neck and the strings that continue beyond the bottom edge. I like the space between those elements: an open area of wood grain on one side and closely arranged hardware on the other.

The metal catches light differently from the body. Small screws and the rectangular pickup cover have distinct highlights, while the strings make fine parallel lines across both dark and pale surfaces. The fretboard adds another rhythm with its frets and light inlays. Those repeated shapes keep the close view active without filling every part of it.

I wanted the photograph to reward the kind of attention an instrument gets when it is held close. A switch, a string and a curve of the body can be familiar to a player and visually interesting to someone looking only at their form. Monochrome gives those details a shared language of grain, reflection and shadow.

About My Fine Art Photography

Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.

I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.

My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
