Panorama of residential homes in Londonderry
Rosemount is a suburb of Londonderry in Northern Ireland. Londonderry is Northern Ireland's second-most populous urban center. Although the city is officially named Londonderry, many local city inhabitants refer to it simply as Derry. Or some would say it's "Derry" to the Catholics and "Londonderry" to the Protestants.
The cityscape featured in this black and white photograph is taken from the old wall that still to this day surrounds the old Irish city. The wall that stands 20 feet high was built to keep the Irish who had been displaced onto less desirable land, such as the neighborhood shown in the panorama.
