Older Tower Framed By Modern Chicago Skyscrapers
Chicago is a city that often reveals itself through layers rather than through a single skyline view. In this photograph, I was drawn to the way the buildings close around a narrow opening, creating a compressed architectural corridor in which a smaller, older tower appears almost unexpectedly in the distance. The image belongs naturally within my Chicago wall art photography because it shows the city through structure, scale, and contrast rather than through a familiar postcard landmark.
I photographed this scene on location in downtown Chicago while looking through the surrounding towers rather than directly at them. What caught my attention was the relationship between the massive modern facades and the slender older building centered far below. The distant tower is not the largest structure in the frame, yet it becomes the detail that gives the photograph meaning. It stands quietly inside an immense field of glass, steel, brick, balconies, windows, and repeating vertical lines.
Black and white was the clear choice for this image. Removing color allows the eye to move between the dark window grid on the left, the reflective glass building on the right, and the softer atmosphere of the central sky. The photograph becomes less about individual building materials and more about geometry, density, age, and the extraordinary scale of a modern city. The surrounding towers form a strong frame, while the open channel through the center draws the eye inward toward the distant structure.
I think the strength of this photograph lies in that delayed discovery. From across a room, it reads as a bold architectural composition with strong vertical rhythm. Up close, the smaller details begin to emerge: balcony railings, window patterns, reflected light, masonry, and the older tower held between far larger buildings. That combination makes it well suited to collectors who appreciate black and white city wall art with both immediate graphic impact and finer detail that continues to reveal itself over time.
This limited edition photograph works especially well in contemporary, industrial, minimalist, and professional interiors. Its neutral tones allow it to sit naturally with a wide range of decor, while the compressed perspective gives it a strong presence without relying on bright color. It would suit a living room, office, study, hallway, or any space where architectural photography can add structure and depth.
Each limited edition print is personally signed by me and includes a certificate of authenticity. I produce the print with archival pigment inks on premium archival paper, preserving the fine lines, tonal separation, and subtle transitions that are essential to the image.

This photograph is released as a signed and numbered limited edition of only 10 prints in total across all available sizes combined—not 10 prints in each size.
Every size is drawn from the same edition. Whether the photograph is purchased as a small print or at the largest available size, it uses one of the 10 edition numbers.
I personally sign and number each print on the reverse, and every print is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity recording its title, dimensions, medium, edition number, and date of issue.
Once all 10 prints have been sold, the edition will be permanently closed. No additional numbered editions of the photograph will be produced in another size or format.

I personally produce every photograph using archival pigment inks on premium archival paper with a subtle luster finish.
The paper provides rich tonal depth, excellent fine-detail reproduction, and a refined surface that reduces distracting glare under normal indoor lighting. It is especially well suited to both color and black-and-white photography.
Each photograph is sold as an unframed fine art print, allowing it to be framed according to the collector’s space and personal style.
Before a print leaves my studio, I carefully inspect it for color, tonal accuracy, surface quality, and overall presentation. Nothing is outsourced, and every finished print passes through my hands.

Worldwide delivery is included in the listed price, so there is no additional shipping charge added during checkout. I select an appropriate tracked delivery service based on the destination, print size, and current shipping requirements.
Delivery times vary by destination and may be affected by customs processing or circumstances beyond my control.
Because I also travel extensively to create new photographic work, studio dispatch may occasionally be delayed while I am away. When that happens, the print will be produced and shipped as soon as I return to the studio.
