Buenos Aires Headlights and Distant Obelisk Black and White Night Photography
Road Markings Lead Between Dark Facades and Streetlights
Headlights gather across the avenue while the illuminated Obelisk stands farther away between the buildings. I photographed this Buenos Aires night scene in 2011, interested in how the city’s movement could share a frame with that steady distant shape. Bright road markings spread across the foreground, and rows of smaller lights carry the eye into the street beyond.
The near cars give the picture its immediate activity. Their dark bodies are outlined by headlights, with buses and other vehicles adding detail farther back. I like how the traffic becomes progressively smaller as it approaches the distant landmark. Tall facades on both sides narrow the view, making the avenue feel like a passage through the city.
Black and white lets light define the scene. A pedestrian crossing makes a pale band across the road, angular painted lines form a larger pattern below it, and illuminated windows add small points along the buildings. Reflections bring a softer shine to parts of the pavement. Against the dark sky, the Obelisk remains a clear vertical marker within all those smaller lights.
For me, this photograph holds the feeling of a city that keeps moving after dark. It offers a strong sense of perspective and plenty of details to discover from closer up, while the distant landmark gives the eye a place to settle. In a study or living space, it can bring the atmosphere of an evening in Buenos Aires through headlights, architecture and the ordinary geometry of a busy street.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
