Buenos Aires Fluted Columns and Window Black and White Architectural Photography
Pale Stone Grooves Beside A Recessed Wooden Window
Vertical grooves, broad stone courses and a dark window form the structure of this Buenos Aires architectural detail. In my 2011 photograph, I brought these elements together within a close frame. The black and white treatment keeps the eye on the different ways the stone catches light, from the rounded column to the flatter wall beside it.
Two fluted columns occupy the left side. One is cut by the edge of the image, while the other rises to a rounded capital beneath a square block. Fine joints cross their shafts, interrupting the long vertical lines. Behind them, deep shadows separate the columns from the building and give the pale stone a stronger presence.
The window on the right introduces a smaller, more enclosed shape. Its divided wooden frame sits within a thick stone surround, with angled blocks arranged above it. Horizontal courses continue across the wall, meeting the upright window and the columns in a series of clear intersections. I enjoy the balance between these ordinary construction details and the larger classical forms.
Weathering softens the surfaces without obscuring their geometry. Subtle grey marks, narrow seams and bright edges reward a closer look, while the main shapes remain easy to read from a distance. This is how I like to approach architectural details: letting a small part of a building carry the photograph. The restrained tones offer an understated way to bring Buenos Aires architecture into a room, especially alongside other monochrome city or building studies.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
