Canada Nova Scotia Lunenburg Bluenose II Rigging And Bow Sailing Monochrome Nautical Wall Art | Limited Edition of 10
I’ve spent a lot of time wandering the working waterfront of Lunenburg, and every time I stand beside the Bluenose II, I feel the same pull—a mix of pride, history, and the quiet rhythm of a boat built for the sea. This photograph came from one of those slow, observant moments, when the chain draped across the bow caught the light just right, and the rigging framed the nameplate with a kind of honest, weathered strength. It’s a scene you only notice when you’re standing close enough to smell the salt in the air and hear the creak of rope against wood.
The Bluenose II is a symbol woven into Nova Scotia’s identity, and the details are where its character truly lives. In this monochrome study, the tones bring out every texture—the grain of the hull, the curve of the anchor arm, the intricate ropes and hardware that hold everything together. Stripping away the colour lets those textures speak more clearly, revealing the craftsmanship that makes this vessel so admired along the East Coast and beyond.
What drew me in that morning was the balance of strength and simplicity. The chain drags the eye across the frame, linking the lettering on the bow to the rigging above. The whites of the rail soften the composition, adding a gentle contrast to the darker hull. Even the minor marks and scratches feel right—they tell you this ship lives a real life on the water. Nothing here feels staged or ornamental; it’s a working schooner, and that authenticity is a big part of its beauty.
This photograph was created on location in Lunenburg from real, lived experience, not from assembled digital elements. Each print is personally signed and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity that confirms it as a genuine photographic artwork created by me. I want collectors to know that what they’re hanging on their wall comes from a real moment and a real place.
