New York Oculus Curving Ribs Black and White Architectural Photography

Repeating Supports Rise Beside Narrow Bands of Glass

The Oculus becomes a pattern of sweeping lines in this close architectural view. I photographed the New York structure in 2017, focusing on the way its repeating ribs curve through the frame. The view rises diagonally, with darker, closely spaced supports at the left opening towards broader pale surfaces and strips of glass at the right.

I like how the same structural idea changes across the photograph. Near one edge, the ribs gather into a dense sequence that almost reads as a continuous texture. Further across, each support has more room, revealing its thickness, shadowed edge and gradual curve. Narrow horizontal divisions in the glazing introduce a second rhythm among the long rising forms. These small interruptions help make the larger lines feel even more pronounced.

Black and white brings the light and shade into a clear arrangement. Deep areas between the supports provide contrast, while the brighter glass gives the eye places to rest. For me, the photograph shows how an identifiable building can also become an abstract study of repetition and proportion. From a distance, the main curves create a strong graphic movement; up close, subtle changes in tone and spacing become easier to notice. This print offers a focused view of the Oculus for someone drawn to New York architecture, modern structural design and wall art built around line, light and carefully observed detail.

About My Fine Art Photography

Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.

I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.

My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
