Bodie Barn Interior and Weathered Wood Black and White Photography
Exposed Rafters and Broken Boards Around a Small Window
Inside this abandoned barn in Bodie, the roof timbers make a strong pattern above a floor scattered with broken wood. I photographed the scene in California in 2009, drawn to the stillness of the old structure and the way light revealed its worn surfaces. A single upright post anchors the foreground, dividing the room without hiding the small window at the back.
The photograph is full of changes in direction. Broad ceiling boards run across the upper frame, slender supports lean into them, and the wall planks descend in uneven vertical lines. Below, a broken wooden seat and loose boards form a rough tangle. Through the window, a little piece of the landscape remains visible. That bright opening gives the eye a resting place within the dense interior.
I chose black and white to bring the grain, knots and cracks together in one tonal language. Pale boards sit beside deep gaps, and the light gives each worn edge its own shape. The upright composition carries the view from the littered floor to the exposed roof, showing how the room is held together. What I find compelling is the ordinary construction: weathered timber, simple supports and the marks left by use and time. For a rustic room, study or space with reclaimed wood, this ghost town photograph offers a quiet study of an abandoned interior. Its texture adds depth while the small window keeps the scene open.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
