Manhattan Apartment Window Pattern Monochrome Architectural Photography
Bright Windows Across Brick Walls and Deep Recessed Shadows
I framed this Manhattan apartment building tightly, concentrating on its repeated windows and the small differences within them. The brick facade fills almost the entire photograph, divided into brighter projecting sections and deep, narrow shadows. In toned monochrome, the view becomes a study of residential architecture, with everyday details interrupting the larger grid.
Some windows are pale, others dark, and several have curtains or air-conditioning units that change their outlines. The rows remain consistent enough to establish a pattern, but no section looks quite the same as the next. Brick courses add finer horizontal lines beneath the larger rectangles, while the dark recesses give the building depth. Trees enter along the bottom edge, bringing a softer shape into a frame otherwise dominated by masonry and glass.
I was interested in a side of Manhattan that can be easy to overlook beside its better-known skyline. This ordinary facade offers its own visual identity through repetition, texture, and the way light catches separate parts of the building. Keeping the view close allows those relationships to carry the photograph without a landmark or broad city setting. From a distance the main pattern reads clearly; closer up, a curtain, reflection, or open window changes how a small section appears. That movement between the whole building and its separate windows is what holds my attention.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
