Haliburton Lake Sunrise and Tree Stumps Colour Photography
Coral Morning Light Reflected Around Weathered Tree Stumps
The lake holds the sunrise almost as clearly as the sky. I photographed this Haliburton, Ontario view with coral and pink light above a dark wooded ridge, and its reflection spreading around the weathered stumps in the foreground. The colour landscape has a stillness that comes from the water itself.
I like the way the trees form a dark middle band. They separate the sky from its reflection without breaking the sense that the two belong together. Along the ridge, individual treetops make small variations in the outline; below them, the water repeats those shapes more softly.
The stumps keep the photograph from becoming only a study of sky and colour. Their uneven edges sit close to the camera, giving the open lake a clear foreground. Each one has its own reflection, and the largest catches enough light to show the texture of the wood. I kept them well below the shoreline so their shapes could remain distinct against the brighter water.
For me, this view brings together two parts of a Haliburton morning: the broad change in light and the smaller things at the lake’s edge. As a print, it offers strong colour with a quiet composition. It can bring a warm focal point to a cottage or living room, especially for someone who feels connected to Ontario’s lakes and wooded shores.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
