Graffiti Covered Vintage Truck Beneath Texas Clouds Colour Photography
Painted Fenders and an Open Grille Beneath Wide Clouds
I photographed this vintage truck straight on, letting its two rounded fenders balance each other beneath a cloud-filled Texas sky. At Bug Slug Ranch, I had been exploring several vehicles covered in graffiti and found that each offered a different combination of paint, exposed metal, and shape. This front view appealed to me because the truck’s broad curves remained so clear beneath the dense layers of marks.
The empty grille creates a tall opening at the centre, showing parts of the vehicle behind it. Both fenders spread outward into the grass, their curved surfaces covered in blue, yellow, pink, and darker paint. Cracked patches and drips interrupt the colours, making the texture more complex than a smooth painted panel. Above the cab, large white clouds occupy much of the square frame. I liked leaving that space around the truck: the sky gives its heavily worked surfaces a simpler background, while the dry field connects it to the open landscape.
The photograph holds two very different scales of interest. The front of the vehicle is easy to read from a distance, but its paint invites a closer look at the small marks and worn edges. I wanted both to remain part of the image rather than concentrating only on the graffiti. For a garage, studio, or room with an interest in American roadside subjects, this colour photograph brings a bold automotive form into view. It also keeps the setting that made this particular vehicle stand out during my walk around the ranch.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
