Three Men in a Mysore Truck Black and White Photography
Separate Faces Framed By The Worn Truck Windows
Three faces emerge from the windows of a weathered truck in Mysore, India. I photographed the men in black and white, with the nearest man leaning toward the open window and resting a hand outside the door. A second face appears behind him, while an older passenger looks out through the rear window.
The windows divide the scene into smaller portraits without breaking its unity. The front pair are close together, but the rear passenger has a separate frame around his face. I like how the gaze can move between them, returning to the man nearest the camera before discovering the quieter details farther inside.
The truck gives those faces a textured setting. Scratched panels, chipped paint and worn window surrounds fill much of the photograph. The men’s lighter shirts stand out against its dark body and shadowed interior. A steering wheel, roof rack and layered street posters add detail while keeping the vehicle firmly within its everyday surroundings.
I wanted the photograph to hold both the people and the surfaces around them. The larger arrangement reads quickly from a distance; close up, the paint, metal and individual expressions become more apparent. Its character comes from several ordinary elements fitting into one frame at once. For me, the strength of this Mysore street scene is the way each person remains distinct while the truck brings all three together.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
