A Red Striped Barber Pole Above a Detailed Window
I stopped at Regent Barbers while walking through Dublin because the shopfront had a clear shape and plenty of smaller details within it. Large spaced letters run across the pale façade, with a striped barber pole above the middle. Below them, the window is crowded with small objects and signs. The entrance sits to one side, allowing the display to occupy most of the front.
The red on the barber pole is a distinct point of colour within a restrained scene. Pale walls, darker frames and muted brickwork surround it. I like how that small bright mark relates to the much larger lettering underneath, making the shop easy to recognise before the eye begins to investigate the window.
Across the glass, Regent Barbers appears in curved lettering above a scissors symbol. Shelves and small display objects sit behind it, with printed notices contributing another layer of detail. The door carries its own notices and has a darker lower pane. I kept those elements visible rather than simplifying the storefront into its main sign alone.
A strip of pavement and cobbled street anchors the building at the bottom of the photograph, while the upper windows and exposed brickwork continue above the shop. For me, the appeal is in that meeting of a straightforward façade and an individual display. The photograph keeps the larger arrangement clear, then offers the smaller things that made this particular Dublin storefront worth stopping to look at.
