Havana El Morro Fort Walls Black and White Architectural Photography
Layered Stone Defences Beneath a Sky of Scattered Clouds
Low stone walls stretch across this view of El Morro in Havana, with scattered clouds gathering above the fort. A pale path curves through the grass in the foreground, following the nearer wall. I photographed the east side as a succession of horizontal layers, keeping the worn surfaces and small openings visible across the frame.
The closest wall has a particularly varied surface. Pale patches, dark stains and exposed blocks form a broad band above the grass. Behind it, another wall is punctuated by dark rectangular openings, with larger stone forms rising farther back. Those changes in height give the view depth without a single tower taking over the composition.
For me, the interest lies in the relationship between the built lines and the irregular clouds. The masonry is rough, but its edges remain clear and deliberate. Above it, the clouds have softer boundaries and more scattered shapes. Black and white makes that difference especially apparent, while keeping the textures of the walls central to the photograph.
This Cuban architectural print offers a quieter view of a well-known Havana setting. Someone drawn to fortifications, weathered stone or travel photography can follow the layers from the foreground path into the buildings beyond. The open sky provides space around those details, giving the photograph both a broad structure and plenty of surfaces to examine closely.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
