Beijing Cargo Tricycle and Bicycle | Street Photography
Turquoise Frames and Rust Against a Grey Brick Wall
Turquoise paint survives in patches across these old cycles, brightening an otherwise grey Beijing street detail. A cargo tricycle stands in front of a bicycle, their wheels and frames overlapping against a brick wall. I photographed the arrangement for its colour, worn surfaces, and unusually clear side-on view.
The cargo box is the largest coloured shape. Its blue panels carry rust along the edges, and the frame curves forward toward a slender front wheel. Behind it, the bicycle adds another set of handlebars and spokes. A pale pink seat gives the scene a small, unexpected note of colour above the weathered metal.
I like the contrast between the vehicles’ curved lines and the wall’s regular brickwork. Wheel rims, bent handlebars, and sloping tubes cross a background of horizontal joints. The grille above them introduces a different repeating pattern without becoming the main subject. Keeping the view close allows those relationships to remain easy to read.
The photograph does not need a busy street around it to feel connected to the city. These ordinary vehicles, with their visible wear and practical forms, provide a quieter view of Beijing. The colour is restrained enough for the turquoise to stand out, while the rust and grey masonry reward a closer look. For me, the interest is in what the surfaces reveal visually, without having to invent the lives or journeys behind them.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
