Maine Ferry Boats and Blue Water Colour Photography
Aucocisco III and Wabanaki Reflected at the Dock
The yellow stripe along the ferries repeats in the water, giving the blue harbour a bright interruption. I photographed the Aucocisco III and Wabanaki in Maine in 2018, with the boats sitting alongside the dock. This colour photograph keeps their reflections almost as prominent as the vessels themselves.
The larger ferry occupies the left side of the frame, its white decks rising above a darker hull. The second boat sits farther back, repeating the same broad colours at a smaller scale. Windows, railings and wheelhouses add detail, but the first impression remains simple: white and yellow boats against clear blue water and sky.
I like how the reflection changes the ordered shapes. The hulls and decks are firm above the surface, while below them the lines bend and stretch with small ripples. That gentle movement gives the otherwise still scene a different rhythm. The open water near the bottom of the frame provides space around the more detailed dockside view.
For me, the photograph is a portrait of everyday maritime life, with working boats at rest rather than out at sea. Their names make the image specific, while the colour and reflections give it a broader coastal appeal. As wall art, it can suit someone connected to Maine or drawn to ferry boats and harbour photography. The clean blues bring an open, summery feeling to a room, with the yellow hull markings adding a clear point of warmth.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
