The CN Tower Beside a Smokestack Lettered More Than Enough

The CN Tower rises beside a brick smokestack in this black and white Toronto waterfront photograph. The stack’s large vertical lettering reads “MORE THAN ENOUGH,” giving its textured surface a strong graphic presence. I photographed the pair beneath a cloud-filled sky, framing the slender tower and the broader chimney as neighbouring upright forms.

The CN Tower stands to the left, its circular observation decks contrasting with the plain cylinder of brick beside it. Sunlight brings out small differences across the masonry and catches the edges of the tower’s upper structure. A residential building appears lower between them, while the long brick wall of The Power Plant crosses the foreground. Clouds leave dark and light areas around the two tall forms, allowing their outlines to remain distinct.

I made this photograph while exploring the waterfront on foot in 2015. What drew me to the view was how a familiar part of the skyline could be seen alongside an older industrial element at close range. Looking upward brought both into the same frame without losing the buildings below. The lettering became as important as the chimney’s shape, leading the eye up its surface before the tower carried it farther into the sky. Monochrome keeps that movement direct while preserving the texture of the brick and the softer edges of the clouds. For me, the image records Toronto through a particular overlap of structures encountered during a walk.

About My Fine Art Photography

Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.

I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.

My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
