Overgrown Tuscan Bench Against a Weathered Wall Black and White Photography
Wooden Slats and Leaves Beneath Uneven Masonry
A bench almost disappears into the plants gathered around it. I came across this small scene while walking in Tuscany, and the combination of a simple wooden seat and a richly textured wall held my attention. The bench sits low in the square frame, its horizontal slats still visible above and between the leaves. Behind it, rows of weathered masonry fill the rest of the photograph.
The wall has its own irregular rhythm. Some courses remain fairly straight, while other areas show rough patches, gaps and changes in the surface. I am drawn to how those variations sit above the more even lines of the bench. Near the ground, the foliage introduces another texture altogether: stems and pointed leaves spread across the seat and around its base. The black and white treatment brings these different surfaces together, allowing the smallest shadows to remain part of the image.
For me, the photograph’s quiet character comes from that close view of an ordinary corner. There is enough order to recognize the wall and bench immediately, and enough tangled growth to keep looking. The arrangement gives the image a gentle, rustic quality without needing a broad landscape around it. On a wall in a reading corner or a room with natural textures, it offers an intimate piece of Tuscany built from wood, leaves and timeworn masonry.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
