SAHMRI Facade Abstract Photography With Repeating Triangular Forms

Sharp Projections Form a Serrated Edge Against Pale Sky

A narrow strip of pale sky is enough to change this architectural detail. It makes the projecting edge of SAHMRI’s facade stand out like a repeating serrated line. I photographed the building in Adelaide, Australia, in black and white, concentrating on the rows of angular forms rather than trying to show its full shape.

From this side view, each triangular element has a bright face and a dark recess. Those differences create the rhythm of the image. The nearest forms are large and sharply defined, while the rows farther to the left draw closer together. I like how a precise pattern becomes a measure of depth simply through perspective.

The horizontal bands run at a slight diagonal across the vertical frame. They hold the repeating elements together, yet they also give the composition a sense of movement. The facade feels orderly without becoming static: the eye can follow one row, move down to another, then return to the stepped outline against the sky.

I chose monochrome because light and shadow are the real subject here. Without colour competing for attention, the photograph can be read as architecture or as an abstract arrangement of triangular shapes. It would suit a contemporary office or design-led interior where clean lines have room to register. For me, its strongest feature is that outer edge, where the repeated forms leave the dense wall and become a crisp pattern against open space.

About My Fine Art Photography

Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.

I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.

My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
