Red Kochi Payphone Against a Weathered Yellow Wall Art Print
Bright Red Plastic on an Old Wooden Shelf
Red and yellow make the first impression, but the worn shelf is what holds the scene together. A red payphone rests on it against a wall whose paint has broken into pale patches and small traces of other colours. I photographed this detail in Kochi, India, in 2010, keeping the everyday object close enough for its surroundings to matter.
The phone has a compact, solid shape: a handset across the top, small keypad buttons, a narrow display and a coin-return panel below. Its coiled cord falls to the left and gathers on the shelf. Against the irregular wall, those simple forms feel especially clear. The red surface is relatively smooth, while the wood beneath it has split edges and visible grain.
I like how much texture sits around one ordinary object. The yellow wall carries peeling layers, scratches and exposed patches, and wires descend from above. A vertical crack and metal fitting at the left add another set of lines. None of these details needs to become a separate subject; together they make the phone’s bright colour more striking.
This Kochi payphone wall art brings a lively accent to an office, creative workspace or room with vintage details. It can also appeal to someone who enjoys travel photography focused on small discoveries rather than broad landmarks. From a distance, the red and yellow establish the picture; closer up, the shelf, cord and worn paint give it depth and character.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
