Pacific Ocean Shimmering Surface Aerial Abstract Nature Photography
Bands Of Pale Light Across Dark Ocean Ripples
Seen from an airplane, the Pacific Ocean becomes an absorbing pattern of light and small ripples. I photographed this close aerial view in 2011, filling the frame with water as pale, warm highlights spread across its darker surface. The scene has no single object to anchor the eye; instead, the changing bands of brightness create a route through the image. I like how a familiar subject can become so visually spare when seen from above.
The brightest areas gather towards the left, breaking into fine points over the textured water. Farther right, the tones become cooler and more subdued, allowing the individual ripples to appear as a quieter pattern. Broad curves of reflected light sit over those smaller marks, giving the photograph two scales to explore at once. From a distance, the image reads as a gentle arrangement of light and dark; closer up, the ocean’s surface reveals a much finer rhythm.
That balance is what continues to interest me. The water remains recognisable, yet the composition also works as an abstract study of natural texture. Its restrained grey-blue and pale gold tones suit a calm living room, bedroom or study, especially where strong colour would be distracting. For someone drawn to aerial photography or subtle ocean wall art, it offers a view that rewards patient looking, with the surface itself providing all the detail.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
