Repeating Window Grilles Along a Narrow Pavement

The closest barred window gives this Italian street photograph a strong starting point. Its dark grid stands against a pale, uneven wall, with smaller windows continuing along the building towards the right. I photographed the facade at an angle so that the repeated openings become part of a receding view rather than a flat row.

There is a great deal to see in the wall itself. Cracks, stains and worn patches change its tone, while faded graffiti appears across the lower section. The colour is quiet: pale cream, grey and brown dominate, with traces of pink and blue among the markings. I am drawn to the way those irregular surfaces sit around the more ordered window bars. The grid remains easy to recognise even where the surrounding plaster is rough and discoloured.

A narrow pavement runs along the base, meeting the road in a long diagonal. Above it, drainpipes and smaller upper windows repeat the direction of the facade. Together, these details make the building feel close while still giving the eye somewhere to travel. My photograph stays with the wall and the empty stretch beside it, leaving the wider street outside the frame. That limited view brings the wear of the surface and the rhythm of the windows into focus, turning an everyday architectural feature into the whole subject.

About My Fine Art Photography

Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.

I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.

My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
