Antarctic Blue Iceberg Curves and Opening Colour Abstract Photography
An Ice Opening Beneath a Streaked Cloudy Sky
Blue runs through the folds and recesses of this Antarctic iceberg, becoming strongest where the pale surfaces turn away from the light. In my photograph, the ice rises through most of the frame, leaving a patch of sky above. A small opening near the top breaks the solid form and lets the brighter sky appear within it.
That opening draws my eye, but the surrounding curves are just as important. Broad slopes cross narrower ridges, and the shaded grooves create lines that lead upwards from the foreground. The surface changes from smooth, softly lit areas to finely textured sections. I wanted those differences to remain visible without losing the larger shape of the ice. Close details and broad forms share the same frame.
The sky gives the composition another kind of movement. White clouds sweep across blue, echoing the light and colour below while remaining much less solid. There is no visible shoreline or open water to establish a conventional horizon. Instead, the photograph stays close to the iceberg itself, letting its rising edges determine the view.
I am drawn to the way a recognisable natural subject can also work as an abstract arrangement. The blue grooves, pale ridges and opening are all features of the ice, yet they invite a slower look at shape and texture. The resulting photograph keeps that balance between the Antarctic setting and the details immediately in front of the camera.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
