Bugaboo Snow Edge and Rocky Slope Black and White Photography

A Curving Snowbank Divides the Stone Covered Slope

The edge of the snow makes a bright diagonal through this Bugaboo Mountains photograph. It begins near the lower left and curves toward the rise of the slope, separating a pale snowfield from ground covered in small stones. I photographed this close mountain landscape in British Columbia with the clouds above it, keeping the meeting of those surfaces as the main subject.

The rock slope has a fine, closely packed texture. Individual fragments remain visible in the foreground, then become a more continuous grey surface farther away. Beside them, the snow is smoother, though its top carries shallow ridges and its exposed edge has a darker band beneath the white. I like how the curved boundary leads the eye uphill without needing a distant peak as a focal point. Puffy clouds introduce larger, softer forms across the sky, balancing the detailed ground below.

In black and white, the scene rests on a few clear differences: white snow, darker stone, shaded edge and bright clouds. My photograph keeps those elements simple enough to read from a distance, while the foreground offers more detail when seen closely. For a room with neutral tones or someone drawn to mountain textures, this square print brings an uncluttered view of the Bugaboos. The interest is in the line where snow meets rock and the changing scale of the textures on either side.

About My Fine Art Photography

Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.

I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.

My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
