There are places where silence feels alive, and this swamp in Haliburton is one of them. Standing there that morning, I could almost hear the hush of time itself, the way the mist softened the air and the deadwood trees rose like skeletal sentinels from the marsh. The water was still, broken only by the faint scatter of lily pads drifting on the surface. It’s a scene that begs you to pause—quiet yet layered with a kind of eerie dignity.
I’ve always been fascinated by swamps and wetlands. They’re transitional spaces, caught between water and land, life and decay.
