Ontario Lily Pads and Wetland Grass Colour Nature Photography
Rounded Leaves Among Fine Green Stems and Reflections
The lily pads make a loose chain across the water, each rounded leaf sitting among much thinner upright stems. I was drawn to that difference in shape in this Ontario wetland photograph. Green dominates the plants, while the open water gives them a cool blue grey setting.
Some pads remain bright green; others have small yellow or reddish areas that add variation without changing the overall colour of the scene. Their broad surfaces sit almost flat, making a clear contrast with the dense grass above them. I enjoy how the leaves provide a slower rhythm within all those closely spaced vertical lines.
The reflections carry that pattern into the lower part of the photograph. Thin stems become darker marks across the water, and a few gentle ripples bend their outlines. The open area on the right gives the eye room to rest, while the denser plants on the left keep the view detailed. That balance is important to me because the scene could easily become just a crowded patch of vegetation.
I photographed this wetland detail in 2014, concentrating on the relationship between floating leaves, upright grass and the surface supporting both. The view keeps the larger landscape outside the frame, allowing small changes in shape and colour to become the subject. Looking closely reveals individual pads and stems; stepping back brings the pattern of green against water into focus.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
