Three Adirondack Chairs Overlooking The St Lawrence Black And White Photography
Empty Chairs Facing A Broad Shoreline Beneath Quiet Sky
Three pale Adirondack chairs face the St. Lawrence from a grassy bank in Quebec. I liked how their curved backs repeat across the foreground, offering a clear human scale beside the broad shoreline beyond. The chairs are empty, leaving the view open for the eye to travel out towards the low hills on the far side.
Small white flowers appear among the grasses around them. Their bright points echo the chairs without competing with their stronger shapes. Behind the seats, bands of exposed shore and water create a quieter horizontal pattern, with scattered rocks adding detail across the middle distance.
The chairs are not perfectly aligned. Each sits at a slightly different angle, which gives the arrangement an informal feel and keeps the repetition from becoming too exact. I find that small variation important to the photograph. It makes the scene feel like a place to spend time, with the shoreline providing a generous view beyond the familiar furniture.
Black and white brings the light chairs forward against the darker grass and the subdued shore. Above the distant hills, a plain grey sky keeps the upper part of the composition calm. The image has plenty of detail close by, then becomes simpler as the eye moves away.
I photographed this setting in 2015. As a cottage or living room print, it offers a quiet Quebec waterside scene with an inviting focal point. For someone who enjoys shoreline photography and unhurried views, those three empty chairs give the landscape an especially personal connection.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
