Summer Grass Surrounds Tall Bare Trunks Under Blue Sky
Bright green grass fills this Haliburton clearing, with two tall bare trunks standing prominently against a blue sky. Smaller dead trees and fallen branches remain among the living growth, while a dense forest closes around the open area. I was drawn to that contrast: a summer landscape full of colour, with the pale, stripped shapes of trees still visible within it.
White clouds gather above the forest edge, adding a softer form behind the narrow trunks. The grass changes from yellow-green in the sun to deeper tones in the shaded areas, creating a textured foreground. Beyond it, different tree shapes make the woodland border uneven rather than a simple band. There is plenty of growth, but also enough open space to see how each part relates to the others.
The bare trees give the photograph its structure. Their thin branches stand apart from the dense foliage, and their height leads the eye from the meadow into the sky. I like the smaller details at ground level too: broken wood, low stems and patches of grass that keep the clearing from looking tidy or arranged. Those marks make the place feel particular rather than simply scenic.
