Classic Havana Convertibles Black and White Street Photography
Rounded Cars and Chrome Beneath an Ornate Stone Arcade
The cars bring their own curves to an already elaborate facade. Parked close together in Havana, these classic vehicles sit beneath large stone arches, carved ornament and tall doorways. I photographed the scene while walking the city in 2017, keeping the automobiles and architecture together rather than isolating a single car.
A two-tone convertible takes the foreground. Its rounded rear body, circular lamps and bright bumper make a strong shape against the darker cars behind it. Across the group, polished trim and pale body panels catch the light, producing a series of small highlights within the black and white image.
Above them, the arcade has a more formal rhythm. Repeating arches and broad pillars give the upper part of the photograph structure, while decorative lamps and carved details add finer lines. The cars do not line up neatly with that architecture, and I like the more casual arrangement they introduce below it.
The close view leaves some vehicles partly outside the frame. That makes the group feel like a section of a larger street scene rather than a carefully arranged display. The parking lines and worn road surface keep it grounded in daily use.
Black and white lets the different materials speak through light and texture: smooth bodywork, bright chrome, dark glass and weathered stone. What interested me was their shared visual character, with the older cars and ornate building giving this everyday Havana scene its distinctive presence.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
