British Columbia Lone Riverside Tree Colour Landscape Photography
Bright Leaves Below a Steep Cliff and Forested Hills
A broad crown of bright green leaves stands out against the darker forest in this British Columbia landscape. I photographed the tree beside a river, with a steep rock face rising to the left and wooded hills filling the distance. The tree is the clearest individual shape in the scene, but the surrounding valley gives it much of its presence.
Across the foreground, flattened grass and low plants form a rough, muted surface. Their brown and green tones lead towards the trunk without competing with the canopy above it. I find the contrast in scale especially appealing: a single tree close enough to reveal its branching structure, set beneath a cliff whose broken face occupies much of the left side. The narrow strip of water adds another texture between the land and rock.
The colour is strongest in the leaves. Beyond them, the forest becomes cooler and less distinct as it reaches the distant hills. That change gives the photograph depth without requiring a large expanse of sky. I allowed the valley to fill the frame so that the eye can follow the river, move up the rock face, and return to the tree. Its rounded canopy offers a softer shape among the steep surfaces and closely packed conifers, making this a landscape built around one visible point of difference.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
