Point Pelee Marsh Boardwalk Black and White Photography
A Winding Path Through the Point Pelee Marsh
A wooden boardwalk curves through dense marsh grasses in Point Pelee National Park, Ontario. In this black and white photograph, I follow its pale, winding line toward a small bench farther along the path. Made in 2015, the image finds its character in an ordinary place to walk and pause.
The boardwalk enters from the lower edge and bends repeatedly as it travels into the reeds. Its smooth curve contrasts with the mass of upright stems around it. A nearer bench sits partly surrounded by the grasses, introducing a human scale without making the scene feel occupied. There are no visitors in the composition, so the path itself carries the sense of a walk.
I chose black and white to bring the textures forward. The boards catch the light in broad, quiet tones, while the reeds form a much finer pattern. Small differences between the grasses create depth across the marsh. Looking more closely, the seemingly simple view becomes a study of lines, repetition, and the spaces between them.
What I appreciate here is the balance between a built walkway and the wetland around it. The boardwalk gives the eye a route through a landscape that would otherwise feel almost continuous. This landscape wall art suits a calm reading space, a cottage, or a room with natural textures. It can also be a reminder of Point Pelee for someone who knows the pleasure of following a quiet trail.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
