Croatian Sports Court With Long Shadows Black and White Photography
A Football and Figure Within Long Court Shadows
From above, a Croatian sports court becomes a pattern of long dark shadows and pale painted lines. A boy walks towards a football near a small goal, giving the broad surface a clear point of scale. I photographed the scene in black and white while exploring local streets and neighbourhood courts, drawn first to the light and then to the person moving through it.
I noticed the geometry beneath me and waited for someone to enter the frame. The shadows stretch almost the full length of the view, crossing the faded curves and rectangles of the court markings. The goal sits to the left of the boy, with a loose net and its own thin shadow extending across the ground. The ball makes a small dark shape beside an elongated oval shadow, while the figure’s silhouette reaches much farther down the court.
I liked how the different lines share the photograph without becoming one pattern. The surface has seams and cracks of its own; the painted markings follow another rhythm; and the shadows cut through both. The human presence makes that arrangement feel like a street encounter rather than only an abstract study. For someone who enjoys graphic monochrome work or photographs of everyday sport, the image offers both a strong overall shape and finer details to discover. For me, it recalls the moment when patient attention to the light was rewarded by a figure and a ball entering just the right part of the scene.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
