Cliffside Tree and Crescent Moon | Blue Night Photography
A Twisting Tree Reaches Into an Open Blue Sky
A small crescent moon sits above a tree that reaches outward from a rocky cliff. The deep blue sky gives both shapes room to stand clearly. I was drawn to the difference between them: the moon is a simple, bright curve, while the tree opens into an intricate arrangement of branches.
The trunk rises from the right side of the photograph, then bends sharply before spreading across the frame. Clusters of needles mark the finer limbs, leaving gaps through which the sky remains visible. Below the tree, the rock face is dark and uneven, with layered edges that catch just enough light to show their texture.
I kept the cliff along one side rather than allowing it to fill the view. That choice leaves a broad area of blue around the tree and separates its many small lines from the heavier shapes of the stone. The moon occupies a different part of that space, giving the eye a second, much quieter point to return to.
Colour is central here, but the palette is restrained. The cool sky surrounds warm, dimly lit rock and the darker tree. For me, the photograph rests on that balance between detail and emptiness. The branches invite a closer look; the open sky lets the scene remain calm. It is a night landscape built from a few distinct forms, each with a different kind of presence.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
