Historic Harbor Building Surrounded By Maritime Gear

This photograph captures a weathered fishing shack on Martha's Vineyard, a place where the working waterfront still feels connected to its past. I photographed this scene while exploring Martha's Vineyard and spending time around its harbors and working waterfront areas. Walking through these coastal communities, I am always drawn to places that still carry visible signs of their history. While many waterfronts have become polished and modern, scenes like this remain honest and unchanged.

The black-and-white treatment places greater emphasis on texture, contrast, and form. Without color competing for attention, the details become more noticeable. The weathered wood, tangled chains, cracked windows, and dramatic cloud cover work together to create a strong visual balance. The photograph feels timeless, making it difficult to place within any specific decade.
