Maine Coastal Sunset Photography at Blue Hour

Sale price $49.00 CAD

Quiet Evening Light Across a Rocky New England Shore

What held me here was how little the sunset seemed to demand attention. There was no explosive colour, no dramatic sun sitting on the horizon. Instead, the Maine coast had settled into a much quieter transition, with pale pink and peach light lingering above the water as evening moved toward blue hour.

The beach was exposed and reflective, its wet sand carrying faint traces of the sky while scattered stones and shallow channels broke up the foreground. Dark rock formations extended into the calm ocean, creating a natural path toward the small coastal community gathered along the distant shoreline. Those houses give the photograph scale, but they also add something more personal—a reminder that people live right beside this constantly changing edge of land and sea.

I liked the enormous amount of open space. The sky occupies much of the frame, gradually shifting from warm light near the horizon into cooler tones overhead. Below it, the ocean becomes almost metallic, while the wet beach takes on the same muted evening colour.

Maine is often photographed for its ruggedness, but this scene felt different to me. It was restrained. Almost still.

That is what I wanted to preserve. Not simply a sunset over the Atlantic, but that brief period when daylight has nearly disappeared and everything seems to soften—the rocks, the water, the beach and even the houses in the distance. It is a coastal landscape defined less by spectacle than by the quiet atmosphere of the evening itself.

About My Fine Art Photography

Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.

I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.

My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
