Sediment-Layered Antarctic Iceberg in Turquoise Water Fine Art Photography
Dark Bands Cross Pale Ice Beneath a Clouded Sky
Dark sediment bands cross the upper face of this Antarctic iceberg, making a striking contrast with the pale blue ice below. Turquoise water surrounds its low, irregular shape, and clouds occupy much of the sky. I kept all of that colour in the photograph, especially the change from the ice to the sea.
The bands are the detail that sets this iceberg apart. They run across the surface at different levels, bending with its uneven contours rather than forming a neat stripe. Above them, the ice looks rough and grey; below, it becomes brighter, more broken, and increasingly blue near the water. The image lets those surfaces sit together without smoothing away their differences.
I gave the iceberg a relatively low position in the frame. The broad sky creates space around it, with small openings of blue among the clouds. In the foreground, ripples break the turquoise into lighter and darker patches. That water makes the ice feel less isolated as a shape and more firmly part of its Antarctic setting.
This is a landscape for someone who notices unusual natural details. It has the cool colour associated with polar ice, but the darker layers introduce an unexpected element. From across a room, the water and sky create a calm arrangement. Closer viewing draws attention to the sediment lines and the fractured lower edge, where white, blue, and grey meet in a much more intricate pattern.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
