Abandoned Maine Coastal House Black and White Photography
Weathered Clapboards Beside an Open Coastal View
I found this abandoned wooden house while exploring the Maine shore. Its long, pale frontage faces the camera, with a steep gable at the left and a lower roof extending toward the water on the right. The photograph keeps both the building and its coastal setting in view, including the open ground in front and the distant shoreline beyond.
What catches my attention is the way light separates the different parts of the house. The broad front wall is bright, making the clapboards, doorways and window frames easy to see. The gabled end is darker, and branches crowd around that side of the structure. Two chimneys break the roofline, while small variations in the roof and siding add texture to its otherwise simple shape. In front, a wide patch of shadow crosses the ground, giving the lower part of the image a darker foundation.
The water brings a different kind of space to the scene. It appears beyond the end of the house, with a low wooded horizon and a few small clouds above. I like having that quieter area beside the more detailed building: it gives the eye somewhere to rest after exploring the weathered surface. As a photograph for a coastal or rustic room, this view combines the character of an abandoned Maine home with the openness of its surroundings. The monochrome treatment keeps the emphasis on the house, light and landscape.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
