Fine Art Print of Gaspé Peninsula Farmhouse

When I travel through Québec’s Gaspé Peninsula, I always feel as though I’ve stepped back into another era. The landscapes stretch wide and unhurried, and tucked into the hillsides and along the coastlines, you often find houses like this—weathered, enduring, and stubbornly standing against both time and Atlantic winds. I wanted to capture this structure in a way that honours its character, so I chose black and white. Stripping away colour lets the textures breathe: the grain of the wood, the darkened windows, the uneven shingles clinging to the roof. There’s a kind of dignity in its age, a quiet reminder that beauty doesn’t have to be polished or pristine—it can be raw, authentic, and unpretentious.

I remember the afternoon I made this photograph; the sea stretched endlessly behind the house, the horizon a soft line that divided sky from water. That vast openness amplified the simplicity of the building. To me, it wasn’t just a house—it was a story. A story of families who may have lived here, the laughter that once filled its rooms, the storms it withstood. You can almost feel that history leaning into the present, refusing to fade.

As someone who has photographed across 45+ countries, I’ve learned that authenticity leaves the strongest impression. This isn’t a staged image or a digitally invented scene. It’s real photography—what stood before me in the moment, light falling just so, shadows carrying weight. That matters, especially now.

Hanging this piece on your wall brings more than rustic charm; it introduces atmosphere. It carries with it the solitude of rural Québec, the soundless sweep of the ocean, and the presence of history embedded in wood. Whether you live in a bustling city or quiet countryside, it anchors your space with calm resilience.

If you’re drawn to images that celebrate heritage and the enduring beauty of rural life, you’ll find more of that spirit woven throughout my curated collections. Step into the broader world of my Québec Photography Collection or explore the textures and tones in my Rustic Photography Collection.
