Whitewall Wheels and Chrome Curves | Classic Car Photography
Two Whitewall Tires Along a Sweeping Black Fender
The spare wheel dominates this close view of a classic car, its whitewall forming a bright circle against polished black bodywork. I chose black and white for the photograph so the wheel, chrome, and curved fender could work together without color drawing attention away from their shapes. A second wheel appears farther along the car, repeating the first on a smaller scale.
The angle is part of what interests me. Looking down across the spare, I could bring its tread, pale sidewall, and wire spokes into the same composition as the long sweep of the fender. The large circle is tilted within the frame rather than presented straight on, giving the detail a sense of movement.
There is a lot to explore inside that circle. Fine spokes cross one another around the reflective hub, while the tire carries a much heavier pattern along its outer edge. I like the difference between those delicate metal lines and the solid band of rubber surrounding them.
The glossy body beside the spare reflects light in broad patches. Beneath it, the darker ground provides a plain surface that lets the mechanical details remain clear. The smaller whitewall brings the eye back into the car instead of letting the main wheel stand alone.
This is the kind of automotive design I enjoy seeing closely. A whole-car portrait would tell a different story; here, the photograph concentrates on the relationship between two wheels and a continuous curve of bodywork. For a classic car enthusiast, it offers familiar craftsmanship through an unusual perspective.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
