Garak Tower Facade Curves Monochrome Abstract Architecture Photography
Pale Bands Bend Around Narrow Dark Channels in Close View
At Garak Tower East in Seoul’s Seocho district, I stopped close to the facade to follow its changing lines. This monochrome photograph fills the frame with curved bands and narrow dark channels, leaving out the street and the building’s overall outline. The architecture becomes a pattern that seems to keep moving even though its surfaces are fixed.
The left side has broader pale sections that sweep outward near the bottom. On the right, tighter curves repeat in a different rhythm. Between them, a dark strip carries thin vertical lines through the centre of the image. I wanted those three areas to remain distinct while still forming one continuous view. Smaller panel seams add a finer grid inside the larger waves.
Working in monochrome gave me room to concentrate on the changes in light and shape. The darker channels separate the pale bands, but they do not all run at the same angle or width. That variation is what keeps my eye following the surface instead of reading it as a simple repeated design. Standing there, I was less interested in the height of the tower than in the way its facade changed as I looked across it. The photograph holds that closer encounter: an urban structure viewed through its curves, with enough surface detail to keep the pattern tied to the building itself.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
