Rome Graffiti Covered Door and Weathered Wall Colour Photography
Pale Door Panels Within Rough Ochre Plaster and Brick
Black graffiti stretches across the pale panels of this Rome doorway. I photographed it against a broad section of weathered wall, where ochre plaster gives way to exposed brick and rough patches of masonry. The door sits slightly right of centre, providing a clear rectangular shape within the less regular surface around it.
The contrast between those surfaces is what catches my attention. The door has narrow panels and three small dark openings near the top, with overlapping black, blue and faded pink marks across its face. Around it, the wall changes from relatively smooth plaster to rows of uneven bricks. Small green plants emerge from higher cracks, adding brief points of colour to the earth toned setting. I like how the image brings painted marks, rough masonry and those little patches of growth into the same close view.
The photograph offers a Rome street detail that works through texture as much as through its subject. You can start with the graffiti, follow the edges of the door and then examine the broken plaster around it. My framing leaves enough wall on either side to show how the doorway belongs to its surroundings. For a room with warm neutral colours or someone drawn to weathered urban architecture, this print brings ochre, pale grey and dark graphic lines together. Its interest lies in the visible surface, with several different patterns occupying a single small part of the city.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
