Resting Romanian Horse With Long Mane Black and White Photography
A Curtain Of Hair Above The Lowered Muzzle
The horse’s eyes are hidden, but the portrait still has a strong presence. I photographed this resting horse in rural Romania, concentrating on the long mane falling across its face. Two ears emerge above the tangled strands, and a pale facial marking leads down toward the lowered muzzle in this black and white image.
I kept the view close rather than showing a full standing profile. The horse’s body remains partly visible along the side, while dry stems and rough ground establish the setting below. That crop makes the hair the dominant texture and gives the face a more gradual reveal.
The mane carries the eye downward through bright strands and deep shadow. Its softness contrasts with the broken sticks and coarse surfaces around the muzzle. The narrow white marking provides another route through the frame, a lighter line within the darker mass of hair.
What interests me is how much the photograph can suggest through posture and texture alone. The ears, lowered head and resting body form a clear animal portrait even with the eyes concealed. At a distance, the shape and pale marking hold together; closer viewing reveals the individual strands and the ground beneath them. I like its quiet, tactile character, especially where natural materials and neutral tones allow that detail to remain the centre of attention.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
