Cracked Riverbed and Golden Autumn Leaves Abstract Nature Photography
Curled Earth Plates Scattered With Small Fall Leaves
Small golden leaves have settled into the cracks. They bring a light scatter of autumn colour to the broad, curling plates of a dried riverbed, making this close photograph as much about pattern as place. I filled the frame with the ground itself, without a horizon or a distant view to interrupt it.
The dry surface has broken into irregular pieces. Some edges lift enough to cast small shadows; others lie flatter and form pale, smooth shapes between the darker gaps. The leaves are much smaller, which gives the photograph a useful difference in scale. Their yellow and ochre tones pick up the warmth of the earth while their finer shapes contrast with the larger plates.
My eye moves through this image along the cracks rather than toward a single focal point. The lines divide, turn, and disappear beneath overlapping edges. Near the bottom, the shapes are more distinct; toward the top, the leaves and broken surface gather into a denser texture. That gradual change keeps the composition from feeling like a flat repeating pattern.
What caught my attention was the meeting of two seasonal traces: a riverbed laid bare and leaves resting on its surface. I do not need to add a wider landscape to make that relationship visible. The photograph stays close to what was there, allowing a quiet natural detail to become an abstract arrangement of warm colour, fine edges, and shadow.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
