Haarlem Railway Station Entrance Black and White Architectural Photography
An Arched Gate Beneath Lettering, Windows and a Carved Crest
The symmetry of this entrance at Haarlem railway station drew me in on a quiet morning. I photographed the facade in black and white, with the large HAARLEM lettering above a row of narrow windows and an arched gate below. Dark metal columns frame the masonry, while the glass roof adds another set of lines at the top.
I wanted the entrance to fill the upright frame without losing the structure around it. The columns have visible rivets and pale bases that sit on either side of the doorway. Between them, light brickwork alternates with darker bands. Those different materials make the arrangement feel substantial, even within a close architectural view.
The gate gives the lower half a fine vertical pattern. Behind its bars, the inner doors are still visible, adding another layer to the entrance. Above, the windows repeat in four narrow sections, followed by the strong horizontal line of the station name. The carved crest at the top introduces a more intricate form into that otherwise orderly stack.
I often notice stations as places where people briefly share the same space before continuing their journeys. Here, the quiet allowed me to look at the building itself. Monochrome keeps the emphasis on the pale masonry, dark columns and patterned glass, preserving the small differences that make this Haarlem entrance more than a simple passage through the station.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
