Chateau Frontenac Tower and Turrets Black and White Architectural Photography
Pointed Roofs and Rows of Windows Against Clear Sky
Walking through Quebec City, I find Chateau Frontenac keeps drawing my attention through its changing arrangement of roofs and towers. I photographed this close view in 2014, framing the tall central form against a clear sky. The pointed roof and rounded corner turrets create a strong outline, with smaller rooflines gathered below them.
The tower carries a detailed pattern of windows, pale stone bands and darker wall surfaces. Above those regular rows, dormers rise across the steep roof at different heights. Slender spires extend from the highest points, giving the outline a finer scale of detail. I like how the photograph moves between the substantial walls and these much lighter-looking tips.
In the lower part of the frame, overlapping roofs introduce another sequence of slopes, small windows and rounded forms. They provide a foreground layer within the architecture itself, making the taller tower feel farther back. Light across the facade brings out the distinction between rougher wall textures and smoother trim.
Black and white lets the building’s structure take centre stage. The dark, open sky gives the bright roof edges and pointed forms room to stand clearly, while the windows keep the large facade visually active. This photograph offers a concentrated architectural view of a familiar Quebec City landmark, suited to someone who enjoys towers, rooflines and detailed urban buildings. I find its character in the repeated shapes that remain varied enough to keep the eye moving from the smaller roofs toward the highest spire.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
