Abandoned Currie Railway Station Black and White Wall Art
Boarded Windows and Weathered Siding Beneath Bright Clouds
The CURRIE sign remains above a boarded window, identifying a railway station whose surfaces have weathered considerably. White siding, a dark roof, and covered openings form the building’s simple outline beneath a cloud-filled sky. I photographed the station in black and white to bring those textures and contrasts into the same view.
The building holds the centre of the composition. Paint has worn unevenly from its horizontal boards, while the covered doors and windows introduce larger, flatter shapes. Two chimneys rise from the roof, and a tall railway signal stands beside it on the left. I find that upright structure an important part of the scene: it gives the station a clear railway context even before the tracks are noticed below.
Grass and low plants gather around the base, with rails passing through the foreground. The tracks lead across the frame rather than directly toward the building, adding another set of lines to the siding and roof. Farther back, trees and hills provide a quieter setting.
The bright clouds give the upper part of the photograph a more open feeling, balancing the worn surfaces below. What interests me is how the station’s identity remains visible through its sign, signal, and tracks. This print offers an abandoned railway subject for someone drawn to transport history or weathered architecture. The monochrome view lets the building’s surviving forms and smaller marks of wear carry the image, without needing to imagine the journeys that once passed through it.
