Weathered Farmhouse Standing Alone Across Open Prairie Land

This is the kind of place you don’t stumble into by accident. You see it from miles away—just a shape on the horizon at first—and then as you get closer, the details start to emerge. The sagging roofline, the broken windows, the way the wood has peeled and split after decades of prairie wind. It’s not just abandoned, it’s been slowly given back to the land.

What drew me in here wasn’t just the structure itself, but the space around it. Saskatchewan has this way of stretching everything out—sky, land, distance. The farmhouse sits in the middle of that openness, completely exposed. No trees to hide behind. No nearby buildings. Just this lone structure, holding its ground against time. The black-and-white treatment strips away distraction and lets the textures take over—the grain of the wood, the fractured siding, the collapsed doorway leaning at an angle that feels like it won’t last another season.

I remember standing there with the wind moving across the prairie, nothing but the sound of grass shifting and the occasional creak from the building itself. You can feel the history in a place like this without needing to know the exact story. Someone built this. Lived here. Worked the land. And now it stands as a quiet record of that effort, slowly fading but not gone yet.

This photograph was taken on location during my travels across Saskatchewan, part of a larger exploration of rural and abandoned places that still carry a presence long after they’ve been left behind. There’s no staging here, no reconstruction—just what I found, exactly as it was, in that moment.

Each print is produced using archival pigment inks on professional-grade paper, and I personally sign every piece. It also includes a certificate of authenticity. These are limited edition prints, and once they’re gone, they’re gone.
