La Cabaña Tunnel Havana Black and White Photography Print

A Curved Passage Leads Toward a Bright Opening

A long, curved tunnel leads toward a bright opening at the Fortress of San Carlos de la Cabaña in Havana, Cuba. In this black and white architectural photograph, narrow windows punctuate one wall while a line of small lanterns follows the other. The stone floor draws the eye into the passage, making depth the central feature of the image.

I photographed the tunnel in 2017. Its close walls and rounded ceiling gave me a strong framework, but the changing light made that structure more interesting. Bright window openings become smaller with distance, and their light spreads across the opposite surface in soft bands. The rhythm is clear without being perfectly even.

The floor carries a rougher texture than the walls. Individual stones catch small highlights, then fade into the darker middle of the corridor. Above them, the ceiling curves continuously, guiding the eye toward the far end. I find that combination of rough ground and smoother enclosure particularly compelling.

There is no person in the frame to interrupt the view. The passage itself provides the movement, through the repeated lights, the narrowing space, and the bright destination beyond. Monochrome keeps attention on those relationships rather than on surface colour. As a Havana architecture print, the photograph offers a close look at the experience of a built space: how a simple corridor can become visually absorbing through shape, texture, and light.

About My Fine Art Photography

Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.

I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.

My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
