Uruguay Bullring Brick Arch Black and White Photo Print
A High Brick Curve Framing Soft Clouds Above
Looking up at the Plaza de Toros Real de San Carlos in Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay, I framed one brick arch against the cloudy sky. The close view shows only part of the structure, allowing its curve and the masonry around it to become the main subject. Black and white gives the building’s lines a clear presence without introducing colour into the arrangement.
The arch rises through the frame and bends toward the upper left. Bricks set around its edge follow that curve, while the wall on the right continues in straighter rows. I like the meeting of those two patterns: one guides the eye around the opening, and the other gives the image a stable surface beside it. Small differences in the bricks keep the repetition from becoming uniform.
Shadow darkens the inner face of the arch. That band separates the outer wall from the softer sky, making the depth of the opening easier to read.
Beyond the masonry, clouds provide a broad area with much less detail. Their quiet tonal changes give the brickwork room to stand out, while the opening keeps the composition from feeling closed in.
I photographed the bullring during my visit in 2011. This image preserves a particular upward view of its architecture, with the larger building extending beyond the frame. Its strength for me lies in the simple relationship between a carefully built curve, a textured wall, and an open sky.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
