Blue Sky Opens Above a Sunlit Residential Street
This Old Havana street opens toward the distance between closely spaced buildings, with pedestrians moving through alternating sun and shade. On the left, worn walls and ornate balcony railings rise above ground floor doorways. A broad strip of blue sky remains visible overhead. My photograph keeps the people relatively small within the street, letting their movement share attention with the facades rather than making a single figure the whole subject.
Colour appears in uneven patches along the buildings: pale blue around one entrance, green beneath a balcony, and warmer tones in the exposed and weathered surfaces nearby. The pedestrians add their own smaller accents, including an orange top farther down the road. A small bicycle is visible near the figures on the right, while another person stands at a doorway on the left. I enjoy the way these everyday details break up the long perspective without stopping the eye from travelling into the distance.
The shaded foreground gives the lower part of the composition a darker base, and the brighter pavement beyond draws attention toward the walkers. Overhead wires and rooftop antennas add fine lines against the sky. For me, the scene’s interest lies in that layered combination of architecture, light and daily activity. As a colour print, it offers an inhabited view of Havana for someone drawn to Cuban streets and travel photography, with plenty of small architectural details to notice over time.
